TLDW: 'Age of Attraction' and 'Australia V The World'

TLDW: 'Age of Attraction' and 'Australia V The World'
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United Mother of America 🇺🇸 And to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under Parvati, indivisible, with liberty and Shallow for all 🫡

Starting this month, AK IRL's paying subscribers will get a monthly roundup of what I'm watching that isn't Alaska-reality-tv-related. I'm aiming for this to be sent out on the last Thursday of each month.

There are so many shows I want to watch with you but can’t commit to, so I’d love to get a [Too Long Didn't Watch] summary from your POV / sense of humor so I can catch the highlights without watching the show.

Ask and you shall receive! I also just got an order of stickers, and will snail mail them out this week 🐌

Age of Attraction

When Jorge revealed he was 60, Duncan yelled so loud he woke up the baby lol. Vanelle is 27 (don't worry, they broke up)

TLDW: Everyone is dating each other, but they can't share how old they are until they make it to the Promise Room (to exchange promise rings). Barf.

All of these shows have their own verbiage. In the Bachelor-verse, they have the fantasy suites. Love is Blind cast members always talk about their time back in the pods. For Age of Attraction, it's the Promise Room (and they make sure to say old soul, young at heart, wise beyond her years, etc).

Speaking of The Bachelor, former lead Nick Viall hosts this new show – along with his wife Natalie – who have an 18-year age gap in their relationship.

Derrick is 43 and Pfeifer is 23.

The letter heads don't initially show the cast members' ages, so it's a fun guessing game for viewers, too. They definitely did a good job of casting people who are age-ambiguous.

One cast member is 38 with two daughters, 14 and 12, and promises his ring to a 22-year-old (I'm sure his ex looooves that). The biggest age gap is 33 years, between a 27 and 60-year-old. One woman has to navigate introducing her 29-year-old son to her 27-year-old boyfriend.

John is 27 and Theresa is 54.

The men on these shows are almost always horrendous. Netflix is really good at picking them.

This is going to sound horrible, but if you're not as hot as my mom, I'm not going to marry you.

Another one for you.

I've been meaning to ask you where you're from because your eyes are so exotic, incredible looking, one guy says.

Honestly, I'm from Bakersfield, California.

This was something I binged in a day. That does *not* mean that it's good. You can speed run it and watch the reveals here.

The final couples reveal their ages to each other on 'Age of Attraction' a reality dating show where contestants' ages range from 22 to 60 and they are not allowed to reveal their age

The age reveals are not the proposals, but one couple did leave the show engaged. After he asked for the promise ring back to propose, she thinks he's ending it and says something about her picker being wrong, he gets on one knee and she still says YES.

(total watch time: 6 hours, 40 minutes)

Australia V. The World

This promo is deeply unserious (Cirie in the passenger seat like 😐) but I promise it's such a good season!

TLDW: Seven Australian Survivor players and seven players from around the world face off in a 16-day-speed-run for $250k.

Season 13 of Australian Survivor: Australia V The World is the best season I've watched in the franchise in a while. And that's coming from someone who has watched all 49.2 seasons of the US version.

Cirie Fields hive, we are SO back. Other American players are Tony Vlachos and Parvati Shallow, both of whom have won US seasons (Tony taking 28 and 40 and Parv taking 16).

And, we get Lisa Holmes, a Cirie super fan and Survivor New Zealand icon.

Lisa is the only winner of Survivor NZ.

Talk about lifelong dreams coming true, being able to meet freaking Cirie Fields. If you're watching this now and you don't understand, go and watch some more Survivor. Go and watch all of Cirie's seasons and come back to me and say, 'Oh I'm really sorry Lisa, you were right.'

(total watch time: 11 hours, 25 minutes and 33 seconds)
